Arrma's 1/8 Quake 4S DSC Brings Big 4S Monster Truck Power and Built-In Drift Control
Arrma is stepping its Quake monster truck up to 1/8 scale. The Quake 4S DSC 4X4 RTR is a bigger, 4S-capable brushless basher with Spektrum Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) built in, aimed at stunt driving and big-air bashing with less maintenance fuss.
What's under the body
Power comes from a Spektrum Firma 150A Smart V2 waterproof ESC (3S/4S) and a Firma 3674 2300Kv brushless motor, driving all four wheels. Steering is handled by a Spektrum S662 metal-geared waterproof digital servo, and the truck ships with the SLT3 2.4GHz 3-channel transmitter and a DSC-compatible receiver.
Arrma describes the chassis as a high center-of-gravity design built for dynamic monster-truck stunts — it leans into corners and lifts the front wheels on demand — with a low-component layout meant to keep maintenance quick.
Spektrum DSC
Dynamic Stability Control senses oversteer and applies counter-steer before a slide turns into a spin, which makes sideways driving easier to control. It's adjustable, with four selectable modes ranging from a confidence-building safety net to fully on your own.
Colors, price, and release date
The Quake 4S comes in Black/Red and White/Blue, plus a limited-edition iridescent Black/Pearl finish that shifts in the light and is exclusive to Horizon Hobby (U.S. only). Horizon lists the Black/Pearl limited edition at $549.99.
Horizon says pre-orders ship, and the truck becomes available everywhere, on November 11. Horizon is also running a promotion that takes 50% off one Spektrum 6800mAh 4S Smart Pro Basher LiPo with code QUAKE4S — check their page for current terms.
What you'll need
The truck is Ready-to-Run but doesn't include power: you need a 3S or 4S hardcase LiPo (Arrma specifically says not to use softcase packs), a compatible LiPo charger, and a LiPo safe bag. Our LiPo vs. NiMH guide covers the basics.
